Boa Technology Inc., which has recently launched triathlon-specific footwear with partner brands Zoot and Specialized, is sponsoring nine triathlons in 2013, including the Ironman 70.3 race in Boulder, Colorado, on Aug. 4, and the Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii on Oct. 12.

Both Zoot and Specialized employ the micro-adjustable Boa Closure System in their footwear.

“Our company employs a large number of athletes-ranging from runners and mountain bikers to X Games snowmobilers-so we understand the competitive spirit and commitment necessary to get to race day,” says Garett Graubins, Boa Technology’s marketing director. “With these sponsorships, rather than just put up some Boa banners and call it ‘good’, our staff will host an aid station at IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder so we can be close to action, provide aid to the athletes and give them a boost toward their top performance.”

In addition to sponsoring two Ironman  events, Boa Technology is sponsoring seven Colorado triathlons: Summer OPEN Triathlon in Longmont, TriBella Women's Triathlon in Denver, Steamboat Lake Sprint and Olympic Distance Triathlons in Steamboat Springs, Outdoor Divas Triathlon in Longmont, Harvest Moon Long Course triathlon in Aurora and Oktoberfest Triathlon in Longmont.

These initiatives further deepen Boa Technology’s commitment to triathlon in recognition of the growing number of athletes and sport-specific products using the Boa Closure System, such as the Zoot Ultra Race 4.0 running shoe or Specialized S-Works Trivent cycling shoe, worn by several pro triathletes, including Olympic silver medalist Javier Gomez.

Racers and competitors alike are welcome to stop by the Boa Technology booth at any of these events and take advantage of the “Upgrade To Boa” offer, which allows people to trade their shoes for a new pair of Boa-powered footwear at pro deal prices. Used shoes will be donated to One World Running and Mountain2Mountain, two Colorado-based non-profits serving people domestically and abroad.
