Bauer Hockey Inc. has signed Buffalo Sabre player Jack Eichel to its roster of athletes.
Eichel, the 2015 Hobey Baker Memorial Award winner and second overall NHL draft choice, will exclusively wear Bauer equipment on ice while working closely with Bauer Hockey's product development team to provide insight and feedback into future product direction. In addition, Bauer will be Eichel's exclusive provider of performance and lifestyle apparel.
“I am very excited to start my professional career with Bauer Hockey,” Eichel said. “When you think of hockey, you think of Bauer, and the opportunity to join the roster of great Bauer athletes is an incredible feeling. The best players in the world choose Bauer and I'm looking forward to working closely with the entire team for many years to come.”
Last season, Eichel led Boston University to the NCAA championship game and posted 26 goals and 45 assists for 71 points in just 40 games. Eichel led the nation in scoring and earned the Hobey Baker Memorial Award as the top college player in the country, becoming just the second freshman to win the prestigious award since Paul Kariya in 1993. In addition to his success at the NCAA level, the North Chelmsford, MA, native also competed in the IIHF Men's World Championship and helped guide the U.S. to a bronze medal.
“Jack is an extremely skilled player and has the drive and determination that we always look for in an athlete to partner with our brand,” said Rich Wuerthele, executive VP, Bauer Hockey. “We are excited to work with Jack and be a part of what we believe is going to be a very lengthy and successful professional career.”
Eichel will be featured in Bauer Hockey's global marketing efforts including the promotion of its Bauer Supreme line of products. Eichel will answer fans questions on Bauer Hockey's official Twitter channel, @BauerHockey today, before being on hand for Bauer Hockey's grand opening of its first-ever Own The Moment retail experience in Burlington, MA, on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
Bauer Hockey is owned by Performance Sports Group Ltd., which also markets products under the Bauer, Mission, Maverik, Cascade, Inaria, Combat and Easton brand names.
