For 25 years, ASR, the Action Sports Retailer Expo, has been open exclusively to members of the surf, skate, snow, moto, youth culture, and fashion industry. On September 8th, the public will be able to see inside the walls of ASR. Through a MediaCast at ASR, viewers inside and outside of the industry will be able to get a first glance of future trends, the hottest pros, fashion shows and contests, while hearing from action sports’ industry leaders as it happens.

“ASR is a high energy, exciting trade show that has appeal beyond the industry to the surfing, skating, snowboarding and youth market” says Andy Tompkins, ASR Show Director. David Loechner, VNU Sports Group President, “We’ve always looked for a way to expand the exposure of our exhibiting companies beyond our show attendees while maintaining the show’s business environment. Harnessing today’s available technology, MediaCasts will finally allow us to do just that.”

In a 3-year partnership with action sports media veteran, Alan Gibby at Zone57, viewers around the world will have free access to high quality Quicktime, Flash and Windows Media features from the show floor. There will also be a photo gallery of styles, personalities and events continuously updated throughout the 3-day show. The MediaCast will run on www.asrbiz.com as well as being syndicated on an array of action sports websites geared toward consumers.

The produced features during the show will carry the most entertaining and informative content from ASR’s floor to homes and offices worldwide. “ASR is always so visual,” says Alan Gibby, a 4-time Emmy winning Producer-Director. “By allowing online access to ASR’s happenings, our industry can bring to a worldwide viewer ship a unique glimpse of action sport’s culture, styles, celebrities and products of the future.” Gibby agrees the real challenge for the ASR MediaCast will come in selecting from the many newsworthy stories that always seem to emerge at the show.

Currently ASR’s free seminars are only available to those who attend the show, with MediaCast shop personnel and retailers unable to attend ASR in person will be able to get the scoop on the industry’s direction and the latest trends important to their business. ASR MediaCast clips will be archived and available for viewing for several months after the show. In addition to the MediaCast, members of the industry as well as action sports enthusiasts will be able to check out the ASR floor through podcasts, mobile media, video news releases and a 50-minute TV special slated to air in October.
