Ahnu, a division of Deckers Outdoor Corp., congratulated its blind ultra-thru hiker, Trevor Thomas, who on Saturday successfully
completed the 530-mile Mountains-to-Sea Trail in North Carolina – in
just 78 days.

Thomas, who goes by the trail name, Zero/Zero, which means ‘white-out’ conditions, started the trek along with his guide dog, Tenille, during the first week of April, over 3 weeks later than planned due to road closures and poor trail conditions.

The faster-than-planned completion of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail marks Thomas’ 5-year anniversary of starting his thru hike of the Appalachian Trail. Thomas is the only unassisted blind hiker to complete the Appalachian Trail.

In honor of Thomas’ many trail achievements, Ahnu will be introducing its new Zero Zero waterproof hiking shoe as part of its new Spring 2014 Landscape Collection at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in July.  Inspired by everything Trevor has accomplished, the Zero Zero is built to support the body’s natural biomechanics and provide extra shock absorption and stability for an extremely smooth and balanced ride.
