Leatherman Tool Group Inc has joined The Conservation Alliance to help protect wildernesses for future generations.
Leatherman joined the Alliance in July and celebrated a month later by hosting a happy hour fundraiser for the nonprofit at its booth at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, UT. In August, Leatherman employees took part in the Backyard Collective event at Forrest Park in Portland, OR, spending the day on trail work and outdoor restoration projects.
“Leatherman’s mission is to create products that prepare people for both the expected and the unexpected,” said Ben Rivera, Leatherman Tool Group president. “We hear countless stories every year about how a Leatherman multi-tool has assisted someone in the wilderness helped to whittle a stick, fix some gear, start a fire, prepare food, or perform first aid. As a member of The Conservation Alliance, we’re proud to also help protect wild spaces for many more generations of outdoor enthusiasts, including our employees, colleagues, and customers – to enjoy.”
Since its inception in 1989, The Conservation Alliance and its
member companies, have helped to protect 44 million acres, 2945 river
miles, removed or halted 26 dams, purchased 10 climbing areas and
designated five marine reserves. Most recently, The Conservation
Alliance celebrated the designation of the Boulder White Clouds
Wilderness, which it has been working to protect since 1998. In August
2015, the U.S. Senate voted unanimously to bestow Wilderness designation
for the 275,000 acres of federal land in Central Idaho.
