New Balance announced the appointment of Jonathan Ram to Managing Director — Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) effective April 1st. In his new position, Ram will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s EMEA operations. Ram previously served as International Business Manager for the company.

“Jon brings extensive industry experience as well as proven results with the New Balance brand to this position,” says Joe Preston, Vice President International at New Balance. “His entrepreneurial style, teamwork and leadership skills reflect the core values of the company and will enable New Balance to achieve its goal of doubling our market share within the EMEA region every three years.”

“New Balance is well-positioned for tremendous growth throughout the EMEA region,” says Preston. “2006 was a record year for the brand with multiple countries achieving double-digit sales increases. Jon will build on this momentum as we work towards our global objective to reach $3 billion in the next five years.”

In December 2005, Jon relocated to Boston from Toronto, Canada and assumed the position of International Business Manager with responsibility for management of the company’s Latin America Region as well as global marketing and apparel initiatives.

Ram joined New Balance in 2002 as National Sales Manger for Canada. In 2004 he was promoted to General Manager. During his tenure New Balance's market share in Canada strengthened and continues to be one of the brand’s strongest markets. Prior to New Balance, Ram earned extensive marketing, retail and sales management experience in the sports industry at several organizations including Roots Ltd., National Basketball Association and Major League Baseball Properties.

Ram holds a Bachelor of Commerce/Marketing from Concordia University and is currently enrolled in a Babson College MBA program.
