Helly Hansen and Vail Resorts partnered for the 2019/20 winter season on a limited-edition jacket. The Vail Lifaloft Jacket will come equipped with a 2019-20 Epic Pass which gives unlimited, unrestricted access to all of Vail Resorts’ owned and operated resorts and additional access to partner resorts around the world.
The price of the jacket is $1052 — the vertical rise in meters of Vail Mountain—and comes with a guided tour of Vail’s Back Bowls, First Tracks with HH, complimentary on-mountain lunch at The 10th and general Epic Pass benefits—lodging, dining, rental and transportation discounts.
Across the interior lining of the unisex jacket, the seven Back Bowls are shown in Vail Mountain colors. The jacket has a four-way stretch, life pocket that keeps the battery power of small electronics powered longer and in below-freezing temperatures and Primaloft Lifeloft Insulation. A badge on the exterior of the jacket pays homage to the 10th Mountain Division’s original patch. The history behind it goes something like this …
During World War II, the Army’s 10th Mountain Division used the Vail area for backcountry survival training and after the war, many of the men who trained there were drawn back to the mountain valleys. Pete Siebert, one of Vail’s founders, returned to the area and in 1954, Earl Eaton, a Uranium prospector with a similar vision, teamed up with Siebert to draw up a plan for a ski resort and the idea for Vail Mountain was born.
