Adidas is planning to sign a record-breaking endorsement deal with U.S. open champion Naomi Osaka, according to The Times.
The 20-year-old Japanese star is reportedly closing in on a $10 million per year agreement with Adidas that would rank as the largest deal Adidas has have ever offered to a female tennis player, according to the report. Osaka’s apparel sponsorship deal with Adidas expires at the end of 2018.
The Times said the deal is believed to be the third-largest in women’s tennis, behind Serena Williams’s and Maria Sharapova’s deals with Nike.
