WSI Sports, a Minnesota company that make base layers for outdoor athletes and hunters, will provide the New England Patriots custom apparel for their Divisional Round Playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens this weekend. Temperatures are expected to be in the low teens when the game kicks off at Gillette Stadium.

Earlier in the NFL season, WSI Sports and the Minnesota Vikings partnered to design the perfect shirt for players on the field in less than ideal weather conditions. The specially designed shirt is body mapped to include innovative HeatR fabric in the areas where it is needed the most and includes wind-stop materials throughout the arms to reduce cold in generally the most exposed area on the players bodies. This design features built in HeatR fabric along the collar to warm up the otherwise exposed neck of players. The body of the garment is built with their high performance and comfortable ProWikMax material, designed to keep players dry with its hyper wicking base layer.

Studies show that the HeatR material absorbs and maintains heat twice as effectively as wool. HeatR apparel incorporates innovative materials that absorb the bodies natural heat and stores it within the fabric, maintaining the body temperature of the athlete and keeping them comfortable and focused on performing at the highest level possible.
WSI Sports have started to become recognized as the go-to cold weather experts by NFL equipment managers and league experts around the country. WSI Sports founder and CEO, Joel Wiens, remembers being as excited last season while helping many teams stay warm throughout the playoffs and on to the biggest stage of them all, Super Bowl XLVIII.

Along with outfitting the Packers and 49ers earlier in the playoffs, WSI helped the Seattle Seahawks to a Super Bowl victory over the Denver Broncos by supplying them with Arctic HeatR performance gear, helping them to brace the elements in the first cold-weather Super Bowl in quite some time.

WSI Sports is based just outside of St. Paul, MN, where they take pride in creating high-tech performance apparel that is 100% made and tested in Minnesota. WSI works with professional and collegiate athletes and teams all around the country and their unique business model allows them to fully customize any piece for any player or team.

“Being located in America, and specifically the Midwest, gives us the opportunity to work more intimately with clients,” President Joel Wiens said. “We can customize and change things based upon request and can even ship faster and cheaper than our overseas competitors. This mixed with our unique and innovative technology has led to us being the go-to company for NFL teams who need specific and specialized products, and need them fast.”
