World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) announced that Michelle Smyth is its new head of cycling.
Smyth, who lives in France, has spent the past ten years working in varied roles across event organization, marketing and partnerships for sports brands.
“I’m thoroughly looking forward to joining the team at the WFSGI and working with the members of the Bicycle Committee,” said Smyth. “The role of head of cycling is a great opportunity for me to combine my passion for physical activity with my legal background and cycling industry experience.”
The role, formerly known as Head of Bicycle, was renamed to better encompass Smyth’s role — to support and coordinate the organization’s activities on behalf of the bike brands and the WFSGI Secretariat and grow its services and offerings to the bike industry.
Smyth’s role also entails engagement with its membership and bike committees, identifying new topics and services, particularly with helping the industry capitalize on the cycling boom, and to support relations with the UCI, ITU, UN agencies, and other international organizations and associations.
