The United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) in Las Vegas, Nevada has brought charges against Wal-Mart, stating that the company has illegally intimidated, harassed, and retaliated against workers organizing under the union’s umbrella.

The National Labor Relations Board has ordered a hearing for February 10, 2004.

The case charges that Wal-Mart managers prohibited employees from talking about the union and distributing information in break rooms and on store property; made employees feel that they were under surveillance for union activities; asked employees to spy on co-workers on behalf of the company; and several other charges including illegally firing at least one employee.

Wal-Mart has not responded to the allegations.
