Vital Apparel Group has reached agreement to purchase the assets of ProMarX Specialties USA, a girls’ sports accessory company. The ProMarX accessory line will become Vital Accessories and be marketed along with the Vital Team girls’ and women’s apparel line. The two companies will be introducing their joint positioning at this year’s Super Show. The deal is expected to close on January 25. Financial details were not disclosed.

Kerry Kligerman, president of Vital Apparel Group, said, “Our new entity will be able to offer apparel and coordinating accessories in both lifestyle prints and basic girls’ team apparel. The new division should immediately be greater than the sum of its parts.”

SEW spoke with ProMarX President, Jim Reeder, who explained the details of the acquisition. ProMarX warehousing and shipping operations will move into Vital’s Huntington Station, New York facility, along with all back office operations. Reeder said that he will become general manager of Vital Accessories and handle sales and marketing responsibilities for Vital Team and Vital Accessories.

Custom Promarx products will also become part of the Vital organization, but will remain in Flower Mound, Texas. This aspect of the ProMarX business will continue to be managed by, Sandy Shidler, a former ProMarX partner.

Doug Hendrickson, also a former partner at ProMarX, will be making the move to Vital as well. ProMarX Eastern sales manager, Carl Radke, Western sales manager, and Stoney Feeney, will also join the Vital team.
