Vasque has signed on as the footwear sponsor of the Chuckanut 50K in Fairhaven, WA.

Celebrating its 23rd running this year, the Chuckanut 50K was originally started by Doug McKeever and Richard West. In 2003, ultra-runner Krissy Moehl took over the race so that it could continue, and in 2010 Moehl began coordinating the race under her new race organization, Running Girl Races. The Chuckanut 50K is a lollipop course that consists of flat gravel roads, technical trails and long ascents and descents with 5000’ of elevation gain throughout the Chuckanut Mountain Range.

“Vasque has a long history with Krissy Moehl, and we were excited for the opportunity to work with her again,” says Julie Quinn, Vasque footwear marketing manager. “By sponsoring this race, Vasque is able to give back to the trail running community and encourage others to hit the trail.”

“The race is so close to my heart, instrumental in my development as a runner and an opportunity to bring new runners to the sport,” shares Moehl, Chuckanut 50K Race Director. “Sharing Vasque with the Chuckanut 50k community is a special honor.”

In addition to shoe gift certificates from Vasque for the winners of each age group, the brand also donated $500 to the winning prize purse. Vasque’s new Pendulum II, coming out in April 2015, is ideal for trail runners looking for a shoe that falls right in the middle between maximalist and minimalist. A completely bonded upper eliminates issues such as hot spots and blisters and the Pendulum II’s midsole is designed to completely conform to a runner’s foot giving a perfect fit for the life of the shoe.

Vasque will be at the event sharing the latest footwear styles and Vasque swag for racers and attendees. For additional information on the Chuckanut 50K go to www.chuckanut50krace.com.
