Vasque, an outdoor footwear company, continued its exclusive footwear partnership with the Mount Washington Observatory in North Conway, NH.

For the fifth straight year, Vasque will supply the observatory crew with summer and winter boots. The staff at the nonprofit Mount Washington Observatory is always on duty, rain or shine, through hurricanes, snowstorms and sub-zero temperatures, in order to perform weather and climate research and conduct innovative science education programs.

“These crews live on the summit of Mount Washington for a week at a time, and it can be a pretty unforgiving place,” says Joe Peters, Vasque’s director of marketing. “Vasque’s insulated boots are perfect for keeping them safe and comfortable in harsh winter weather, and our summer styles are incredibly light and breathable without sacrificing durability. We are thrilled to be associated with this institution and to get our boots on the ground in such an awe-inspiring place.”

Observatory staffers say their Vasque footwear has served them well over the years in an environment that demands reliable footwear. “My Vasque boots endure a huge variety of weather conditions during my work atop Mount Washington,” says Observatory meteorologist Tom Padham. “They’ve seen it all from blinding whiteouts and 130 mph winds to bluebird days with hardly a breeze.”

As part of the partnership, Vasque will also co-sponsor the Observatory’s Seek the Peak hiking benefit, which draws hundreds of participants every year to scale Mount Washington’s summit. Mount Washington Observatory will host an Instagram giveaway in November, in which participants can enter to win a pair of Vasque’s insulated boots.

Since 1964, Vasque has been manufacturing backpacking, hiking, insulated and trail running shoes. Mount Washington Observatory is a private, nonprofit, member-supported institution with a mission to advance understanding of the natural systems that create the Earth’s weather and climate.
