Vasque Footwear, part of the Red Wing Shoe Company, announced that Allison Gettings has been named vice president and general manager of Red Wing Vasque. George Curleigh, who has served as vice president and general manager for Vasque and Red Wing Heritage for two years, will pivot to focus exclusively on the global growth of Red Wing Heritage.
Vasque was founded by Red Wing Shoe Company in 1964. In this role, Gettings will lead Vasque’s operations, including marketing, sales and product development.
“George’s leadership and countless contributions have further solidified Vasque’s role as a top choice for high-quality performance, and I am thrilled to continue delivering on our ‘trust on the trail’ commitment,” said Gettings. “Vasque is an iconic brand in the outdoor industry and I am excited to work with the team as we build on our history of providing premium footwear to outdoor enthusiasts while catering to our customer’s evolving needs and expectations.”
Gettings is a results-driven leader with a broad background in retail and footwear. She started her career at Red Wing Shoe Company in product development, where she gained invaluable experience working in the factories and sourcing materials. Most recently, she served as the director of product creation for Red Wing Heritage, where she has developed brand positioning, product, marketing and distribution strategies for men’s and women’s heritage products.
“As Vasque prepares to embark on its 55th year in 2019, Allison will bring her strong track record of successes and dedication to the brands’ ongoing evolution,” said Mark Urdahl, president and CEO of Red Wing Shoe Company. “We’re so pleased that this change will allow George the opportunity to continue Heritage’s global expansion and accelerate the successful path that the brand is already on.”
