US Sailing, the national governing body of the sport, and Sperry Top-Sider have agreed on a new multi-year sponsorship deal. Sperry Top-Sider remains the official footwear provider of US Sailing. This news follows the April announcement that Sperry Top-Sider has become the title sponsor of the US Sailing Team.

“Sperry is a pioneer in developing outstanding footwear for sailors, and have a long history of exceptional commitment to our sport,” said Jack Gierhart, Executive Director of US Sailing. “We are very excited to extend our partnership with Sperry, and look forward to the energy and insight they bring to our members, events and programs.”

Beginning in 2013, Sperry will expand their sponsorship involvement of US Sailing National Championship events. Sperry will be a national sponsor for the Chubb US Junior Championships, a premier US Sailing Youth National Championship regatta that originated in 1921. This Championship features top junior sailors from around the county.

Sperry’s sponsorship includes the US Sailing Road Show, a grassroots sail education program that contributes to community sailing organizations throughout the summer. Additionally, Sperry will sponsor the Junior Olympic Sailing Festivals. The Junior Olympics is a nationwide series of 30 regattas that attracts nearly 5,000 junior sailors annually. The goal of the Junior Olympics is to promote the enjoyment of sailing, develop skills, and provide an Olympic pathway for talented juniors.

“By continuing our support of US Sailing – from its grassroots efforts to its elite athletes – we are ensuring proper investment in growing the sport of sailing,” said Craig Reingold, President of Sperry Top-Sider. “As inventor of the world’s first boat shoe in 1935, Sperry Top-Sider is a brand with a rich heritage in sailing, and it is essential for us to invest in the future of the sport.”
