The Buckle Inc. reported comparable store sales increased 5.0 percent in December. Overall sales increased 4.8 percent to $143.9 million from $137.4 million in the same period a year ago.
JCPenney’s Holiday Comps Sink
J. C. Penney Company Inc. announced that its comparable store sales for the combined nine-week period ending January 4, 2020 decreased 7.5 percent. The retailer reaffirmed its guidance for the year.
Kohl’s Holiday Comps Dip 0.2 Percent
Kohl’s Corp. reported that its comparable sales for fiscal November and December 2019 combined decreased 0.2 percent over the same period last year. The department store operator expects EPS to come in at the low-end of guidance.

Lululemon Athletica Inc. appointed Nikki Neuburger as chief brand officer, effective January 20. She was most recently global head of marketing for Uber Eats. Previously, Neuburger spent 14 years at Nike, most recently serving as the company’s global vice president of Nike Running.

Macy’s Reports Slight Decline In Holiday Sales
Macy’s Inc. announced comparable sales results for the months of November and December 2019 were down 0.7 percent on an owned basis in the November/December holiday period. Said Jeff Gennette, chairman and CEO, “Macy’s, Inc.’s performance during the holiday season reflected a strong trend improvement from the third quarter.”
