Under Armour Performance Apparel is moving their manufacturing facility, but is bucking the trend of companies moving off-shore as it makes the shift to a neighboring county instead. Baltimore County and Anne Arundel County in Maryland have reportedly been in a courting match over the fast-growing darling of the sporting goods industry as it looked for new facilities to support its meteoric growth.

Anne Arundel has apparently won their hand as the company inks a new $8 million, five-year leasing deal for a 346,000-square-foot facility in Pasadena, MD once occupied by the now defunct Webvan Internet grocer.

The company is expected to relocate by April to the facility that will nearly quadruple UA’s manufacturing square footage from its current 90,000 square foot digs in Baltimore County. The company estimates that it will add more than 140 jobs to the local market by 2005.

Their new home county is providing the company with a $75,000 grant to train workers and a low-interest loan to help defray moving costs.

Under Armour is forecasting $120 million in sales this year, roughly double its $59 million revenue in 2002. They estimate $200 million in revenue for 2004.
