Umbro PLC said its chief executive Peter McGuigan has resigned to take up the role of CEO at Americana, a private equity backed business which owns the Bench and Hooch trademarks.
Umbro chief financial officer Steve Makin will become the new chief executive immediately.

Umbro said a search process for a new CFO has begun, adding that McGuigan will remain on the board until the end of July.

Makin, who joined Umbro in July last year, was at Asda and Wal-Mart from 1991 and served on Asda’s operating board from August 2004.
