Executives from three major buying groups, including Don Sonandres from Athletic Dealers of America, Jim Chandley and Stuart Snow from Nations Best Sports, and Phil Steele from Team Athletic Goods, met at NSGA headquarters recently to discuss the possibility of conducting future team shows at a common site.
NBS Snow told SEW, “We wanted to have this first meeting on neutral ground and NSGA has been nothing but helpful with the whole process There are several logistical issues that need to be worked out, but none of them are insurmountable.”
The four executives agreed to continue the process, with a goal of co-locating their spring/summer 2007 shows in July. The three groups will host three different shows, back-to-back, at one location in an effort to make the selling season easier and more cost effective for their vendors. Other than hosting this initial meeting, NSGA will have no involvement in the buying shows.
Snow also told SEW that the group invited a fourth buying group, Sports Inc., to participate in the process, but the group declined.
