Sun & Ski Sports will open in Promenade on Providence on June 15, the second Charlotte-area location for the outdoor adventure retailer. The  first store opened in Concord Mills in 1999.

“We stick to an old concept: Focus on a few things, and do them better than anybody else,” said Founder and Chairman Barry Goldware. “This approach, combined with our knowledgeable staff, gives people more of what they want from a true specialty sports retailer.”

In celebration of the opening, Sun & Ski Sports will hold hour-long clinics June 18 – 20 at 7 p.m.:

June 18 – Road Cycling Etiquette by Jeff Viscount, president of Weeklyrides.com
    June 19 – Gait Analysis & Nutrition
    June 20 – Watersports

The Promenade on Providence location will have experienced staff from the Concord Mills store, including General Manager Mickey Bailey, who has worked in the action sports industry since 1997.

“We want the Charlotte outdoor adventure community to have two phenomenal experiences,” said Bailey. “One inside the store, and the other during their outdoor adventure – when they’re equipped with the best gear for their sport and style.”

Sun & Ski Sports carries lines such as Spyder, Burton, K2, Salomon, Columbia, Marmot, The North Face, Liquid Force, Hyperlite, Under Armour, Asics, Brooks, Marin, Masi, Scott, TOMS and more.

The new Sun & Ski Sports is in the Promenade on Providence Shopping Center at 5341 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, at the intersection with Providence Road.

Founded in 1980, Sun & Ski Sports is headquartered in Houston, Texas, and has 29 stores nationwide.
