Bloomfield Hills, MI-based Summit Sports Inc. has launched two new Web sites, Kayaks.net and BathingSuits.net.

The e-commerce sites offer visitors an experience specific to their sport or activity and join the family of Summit Sports Web sites including SummitOnline.com, Skis.com, InlineSkates.net, TheDailySteal.com, WaterOutfitters.com,  SkateAgressive.com, SnowBoards.net, RollerSkates.net, Hockey.us, Water-Trampoline.com and SummitKayakDemos.com.

Easily sorted for the consumer by categories, Kayaks.net will offer a wide variety of kayaks, such as one-person, two-person and sit-in, and accessories for both the experienced and novice kayaker.  Accessories include: car racks and trailers, paddles, life jackets and other safety items, apparel, dry bags, seats, skirts and storage options. Offering kayak packages, visitors to the site will be able to receive discounts on accessories if they purchase all of the pieces for the kayak. Plans are being made to include blogs, videos, tips for kayaking and other features designed to help the kayaker learn more about the sport and products.

Having experienced great success with its in-store sale of bathing suits, Summit Sports created BathingSuits.net. In the site’s design, each product was specially chosen to serve a function, whether it is quick drying or offers protection from the sun. Featuring suits, board shorts, footwear and accessories for a variety of water sports and activities, the site will include products from such manufacturers as Roxy, ONeill, Body Glove, Reef and Sanuk, who makes their product out of different materials, including yoga mats. More categories will be added in the future, including a more extensive juniors line.

The companys Web sites have been recognized nationally. In 2009, Skis.com was named to the 2009 Internet Retailer Hot 100. The annual list highlights innovative Web sites taking a leadership role in the development of e-commerce by reaching beyond the primary Web site to engage and inform web shoppers.

With multi-category sporting goods shops in Brighton, Farmington Hills, Lansing and Rochester, Summit Sports also operates Don Thomas Sporthaus, a dedicated ski shop, in Birmingham.
