Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. has appointed Bruce Pettet, president and CEO of Leupold & Stevens Inc., the manufacturer of telescopic sights, red dot sights, binoculars, rangefinders, spotting scopes, and eyewear located in Beaverton, OR, to its board, according to a regulatory filing.

Pettet also serves on the Board of Governors for the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) and the Board of Directors for Stimson Lumber Company.

Before joining Leupold & Stevens in 2014, Pettet served for over 10 years as CEO of Collective Licensing International (CLI), a sneaker design and licensing company owned by Payless Shoe Source. CLI also manages the Airwalk, Vision Street Wear, Hind, Above the Rim, and Sims brands, among others.

Before joining CLI, Pettet was CEO of Airwalk International for nearly four years and CEO and head of Sales and Marketing at Brooks Sports for over five years in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He began his career in the industry as a sales rep in Southern California.

Pettet will serve as an independent director. Ruger’s board has not yet determined Pettet’s future Board committee appointments.

The appointment of Pettet expands Ruger’s board to 10 members from nine.
