Stein Mart, Inc. reported comparable store sales for the five-week period ended March 31 decreased 0.3 percent. Total sales for the period were $127.5 million, an increase of 0.4 percent from $127.0 million in the same period in 2011.

Ladies boutique, dresses, linens, men's furnishings and petites posted
the strongest comparable sales, while gifts, ladies accessories, ladies
plus size sportswear, intimate apparel and ladies casual sportswear
posted weaker results. Geographically, March sales were strongest in the
Midwest and Northeast, while the West and Florida were weaker.

The company operated 264 stores at the end of March compared to 263 at
the same time last year. Two new stores were opened and one store was
relocated during the month. No stores were closed. The new stores are in
John's Creek, Georgia (Atlanta) and Sunset Hills, Missouri (St. Louis).
The relocated store is in Tustin, California (Los Angeles).
