Stein Mart Inc. has appointed a former Belk Inc. executive as senior vice president and director of stores. Gary Pierce has worked for Belk since 1993, most recently as senior vice president and director of stores for its central and northern divisions.
Pierce succeeds Michael Ray, who will remain with the company as a regional director of stores.
Pierce is the second former Belk executive to join Stein Mart since late 2008, when David Stovall was hired as president and chief executive after 22 years at the Charlotte-based retailer.
Stovall's last position at Belk was head of its central division.
