Spalding is supporting the Never Flat basketball with its first mobile marketing effort dubbed, “Ask Me,” via KSL Media, New York. Consumers who text basketball-related questions via cell phones to “Ask Me 27563” will be entered into a contest to win a Never Flat basketball.

The effort will run on TV through May 7 (the NBA playoffs begin April 21). Also driving the campaign are print ads in Slam, Rise, Dime and Stac as well as online banners at Spalding.com.

“We are always looking to find ways to own moments that money alone can’t buy,” said Bob Llewellyn, director of consumer marketing for Spalding. “KSL has created a one-of-a-kind showcase for our brand and we see them as a powerful addition to our marketing lineup.”

“Spalding is one of the true American brands,” said David Sklaver, president of KSL Media/New York. “It’s the original brand of basketball, and the company has retained its entrepreneurial roots while fending off a number of Goliaths in the industry. That’s an ideal combination for KSL.”
