SlingFin, a manufacturer of  backcountry and expedition tents, said it has met its initial goal of raising $100,000 through to fund its business through crowdfunding.

The company partnered with WeFunder, an investment platform that allows non-accredited individuals (those whose net-worth is less that $1M) to invest as little as $100 in companies. The Wefunder platform is based on the recently passed Title III of the JOBS Act.

SlingFin said it was extending the six-month campaign to December 19, in an attempt to raise an additional $50,000.

“Using Wefunder, SlingFin is inviting anyone in the outdoor industry to own a piece of the brand and reap the benefits down the road along with SlingFin employees,” said Al Tabor, one of eight co-founders Mountain Hardwear, who is backing SlingFin and its President Martin Zemitis, also a co-founder of Mountain Hardwear.
