Shock Doctor, Inc., announced its entry into the base layer protective category with its new ShockSkin line. Products include padded impact shirts and shorts for contact sports, including football, basketball, lacrosse and hockey.
Available for shipping in spring 2010, ShockSkin is a patented, lightweight base layer protection system that contours with an athlete’s body, for maximum comfort and coverage.
Unlike other leading brands, ShockSkin uses a system of integrated fabric and free-floating foam that moves naturally with the body and allows full range of motion. Individual pieces of protective foam are encapsulated within the ShockSkin fabric with high-frequency welded seams, providing contour ability over shoulders, ribs, thighs, hips and other complex zones. The welded seams are threadless, therefore reducing weight while adding strength, durability and flexibility. This feature completely eliminates the irritation of stitched seams, found in the impact zones of all other products in the category. Other base layer foams are glued to fabric. ShockSkin’s glueless application ensures breathability and elasticity, while offering a greener solution.
Ventilation is integrated into ShockSkin’s multi-density padding, which further lightens the garment and helps transfer moisture away from the body to keep athletes cool. ShockSkin Impact Shorts include Shock Doctor’s patented best fit XFit System and a cup pocket, a feature that most of the competition lacks.
