The Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (SGMA) appointed four new board members: Doug Kelly, president, Russell Athletic; Mitchell Modell, CEO, Modells Sporting Goods; Bob Puccini, president, Mizuno USA, and Robert Whip president Horizon Fitness. All four will serve terms from 2007-2010.
Nine members of the board of directors were reappointed. They are Jim Baugh (Founder PE4Life), Dan Bower (President Century, Inc.), Bob Corliss (President/CEO The Athletes Foot), Jim Davis (Chairman/CEO New Balance Athletic Shoe, Inc.), Steve Furniss (Executive Vice President TYR Sport, Inc.), Kevin Lamar (President/CEO LAMAR Health, Fitness, & Sports, LLC), Wayne Merck (CEO K2, Inc.), Kevin Plank (CEO Under Armour Performance Apparel), and Tom Rogge (President/CEO Cramer Products, Inc.). All nine of those board members will serve terms from 2007-2009.
The current chairman (Tom Rogge) and vice-chairman (Steve Furniss) of the board were also re-appointed.
The directors are elected for a term of up to three years and are eligible for re-election. The chairman and vice chairman are elected annually. The Board of Directors appoints the President/CEO and the Secretary-Treasurer.
SGMA said board members were elected to their positions during the SGMAs 2007 Annual General Membership meeting on Thursday, February 15 at SGMAs offices in Washington, D.C.
