Australia-based Sea to Summit Pty Ltd, has acquired Cirdan AS, the company’s distributor for the Sea to Summit brand in Norway, Sweden and Finland. The move signals Sea to Summit’s intention to expand the business in Europe. The agreement took effect on February 1.
Cirdan AS reportedly has “a strong foothold in the Nordic region,” with its headquarters in Lorenskog, Norway, a sales office in Stockholm, Sweden and an agent office in Helsinki, Finland. The company said Cirdan has been “instrumental in distributing Sea to Summit outdoor equipment on the sport and outdoor markets for almost 20 years.” Cirdan also distributes other outdoor brands, including Jetboil, Nalgene and Lifestraw.
Arne Aaraas Pedersen, managing director, Cirdan, said, “Having successfully distributed Sea to Summit for nearly two decades, we have developed an intimate understanding of the brand, its products, and the individuals driving its success. We are very excited to be a part of their team, and having Sea to Summit as the owner of the company will further strengthen our position in the Nordic market as a reliable and competitive supplier. Anticipating exciting times ahead, we eagerly look forward to introducing new and innovative Sea to Summit products to the market. We will also continue to focus on the rest of our product portfolio so that we can continue to offer a complete sport and outdoor solution to our customers”.
David Ledouble, EMEA general manager, Sea to Summit, said, “We are looking forward to working with Arne and his team at Cirdan. The region offers significant growth potential for Sea to Summit and the other distributed brands. Through future investments, strengthened retail partnerships, and direct-to-consumer efforts, we aim to establish closer connections with our consumers in Norway, Sweden, and Finland.”
As Sea to Summit continues its global expansion, the company said this strategic move further cements the brand’s aspiration to become a prominent player in the adventure equipment industry.
