Scott Sports SA signed a preliminary agreement to acquire Tecnica Group's Dolomite division, marking the second acquisition announced by the Swiss company since South Korea’s Youngone Corp. upped its stake in Scott Sports to 50.1 percent in February.
Since being acquired by Tecnica Group in 1998, Dolomite has repositioned itself from a mountaineering footwear brand to a functional sportswear brand. Dolomite’s revenues are expected to reach €18 million in 2015 with approximately 60 percent coming from abroad. Dolomite sells its product to more than 1,500 dealers.
The acquisition falls within Scott´s strategy of developing long-established brands with a strong international reputation. If consummated, it would also provide access to a deep well of know-how in Italy's Montebelluna region, home to Dolomite and many other footwear and outdoor sports brands.
“I’m very happy to carry through this operation, thanks to the help of Alberto and Giancarlo Zanatta who believed in Scott Sports and its ability to further develop the Dolomite brand worldwide while safeguarding the latter’s identity and origins,” said Scott Sports CEO Beat Zaugg.
