Puma is close to signing Raheem Sterling, the Manchester City soccer star, to a record-breaking endorsement to become the face of the brand’s soccer strategy, according to the Daily Mail. Sterling is currently with Nike.
The offer is expected to be similar to the £100 million ($124 million USD) offer from Jordan Brand that was believed to be made to Sterling last year.
The 25-year-old registered a career-best 25 goals for Manchester City last season with a further six representing England. He had scored 20 times this season with a goal of reaching 35 before the campaign was postponed six weeks ago due to coronavirus.
Sterling’s contract with Nike runs out on June 30. New Balance, Adidas and Under Armour are also reportedly interested in signing him.
In February 2019, Puma announced a long-term deal with Manchester City.
