Reebok has again signed on as the official global footwear and apparel
sponsor of the 2008 Avon Walk Around the World for Breast Cancer. A
series of walks to raise funds for breast cancer awareness, the Walk
Around the World events have mobilized more than 600,000 people and
raised over $52 million since its inception in 2005. Avon Foundation
events including walks, runs, concerts, conferences, workshops and more
have taken place in over 50 countries, bringing grassroots activism to
a global scale.
Reebok has worked in conjunction with the Avon Foundation to have the
symbolic Pink Ribbon featured on its best performance and lifestyle
footwear, apparel and accessories. Reebok's Pink Ribbon branded
products help raise awareness for the Avon events and, in addition,
Reebok has made a significant donation to the cause. The Pink Ribbon
collection will be sold in 2008 at retailers in over 51 countries.
Countries hosting Avon Walk Around the World for Breast Cancer events
will carry Pink Ribbon Product in all Reebok retail locations.
“Reeboks global sponsorship of the Avon Walk signifies our strong
commitment to women around the world and the passions that move and
inspire them,” said Marcy Schwam, Reeboks global director of womens
sport. “Wearing Reeboks new Pink Ribbon footwear, apparel and
accessories enables women to demonstrate their support for breast
cancer awareness from head to toe.”
“We are excited to globally partner with Reebok for the Avon Walk
Around the World for Breast Cancer because the brand recognizes the
importance of walking for health and wellness,” said Carol Kurzig,
executive director, Avon Foundation. “Together, Avon and Reebok can
raise more awareness and funds that will ultimately result in saving
lives.”
To further provide consumers with the opportunity to show their support
for the cause, Reebok will launch an exciting program on RbkCustom.com,
the brands footwear customization web site. In October 2007, women
will be able to personalize Reeboks Limited Edition Pink Ribbon Custom
shoe with initials. A percentage from each pair sold will be donated to
the Avon Foundation for Breast Cancer. In 2008, consumers will be able
to choose from a variety of Pink Ribbon products to customize with
colors, designs and details that have individual symbolic meaning.
