Specialized Bicycle Components Inc of Morgan Hill, CA has voluntarily approximately 1,350 26-inch Epic and Era mountain bikes due to faulty shock absorbers, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.


The shock absorber mount can break and the shock absorber can make contact with the wheel spokes, posing a fall hazard to the rider. The bikes, priced from $2,000 to $5,500, were sold nationwide from September 2009 through October 2009. No injuries have been reported.
This recall involves alloy seat stays on the following 2010 Specialized 26 Era and 26 Epic bicycles: 2010 Epic Marathon Carbon, 2010 Epic Marathon Frame, 2010 Epic Expert Carbon, 2010 Epic Expert, 2010 Epic Comp Carbon, 2010 Epic Comp, 2010 Era FSR Expert Carb, 2010 Era FSR Expert and 2010 Era FSR Comp.
