The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Hurley International, announced a voluntary recall of 330 Boy's Windbreaker Jacket with Drawstring. The jackets have a drawstring through the hood, posing a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, the CPSC issued guidelines to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist drawstrings of upper garments such as jackets and sweatshirts.
The recalled jackets are black or gray, and in youth sizes up to size 20. The style number BJ06GS is printed on a label sewn inside the left side seam of the jacket.
The jackets were manufactured in Hong Kong and were sold at various department and specialty stores nationwide from July through early December, 2005. Consumers should remove the drawstring to eliminate the hazard.
