Gerber Legendary Blades is recalling about 150,000 Cohort folding knives in the United States and 11,000 in Canada after finding its locking mechanism can fail to hold the blade and pose a laceration hazard.

Gerber has received six reports of laceration injuries, two of which required stitches. The Portland, OR-based company has instructed consumers to stop using the knife and contact Gerber for a replacement.

A full description of the recall, including affected serial numbers, is available from the recall notice published by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The Cohort was sold at Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, Home Depot, other retailers nationwide and online at www.gerbergear.com and other online sporting goods stores from January 2013 through March 2015 for about $30.

The knife was manufactured in China.
