Mammut Sports Group Inc. recalled about 70 of its RescYou crevasse rescue devices in the United States and 80 in Canada because the pull cord lock cam can fail, posing a risk of death and inuring during a rescue.

Although Mammut has not received any reports of accidents or injuries related to the issue, it is advising consumers to immediately stop using them and contact it for a free replacement device.

The devices, which were sold by outdoor specialty stores for about $125 from June 2013 through January 2014, are pulley systems used for ski mountaineering and mountain climbing to lift a skier or climber who has fallen into a crevasse.

The devices, were manufactured by Mammut in Taiwan.
