Puma is offering a discount on hosiery following the social media uproar that followed United Airlines’ refusal to let two “pass” riders onto a flight for wearing leggings,
“We fly in our leggings,” the brand tweeted on Tuesday. “Bring your United ticket to any US PUMA store for 20 percent off leggings. Now until April 9. Stay Fly.”
The move comes after United Airlines gate agent’s decision to bar two young girls from boarding a flight because they were wearing leggings.
United Airlines later released a statement explaining that the girls were subject to a stricter dress code because they were family members of a United employee and traveling as “pass riders.” “When taking advantage of this benefit,” the statement said, “all employees and pass riders are considered representatives of United. And like most companies, we have a dress code that we ask employees and pass riders to follow.” United concluded by adding that regular customers are welcome to wear leggings.
