Position Overview

• Provide product category and market leadership with focus on profitable opportunities that best utilize PMI’s sales, development and manufacturing expertise. Ensure product opportunities align with brand strategies.

• Annually merchandise product assortments. Working with sales, provide direction and recommendations in developing assortments and over-arching program message for retail partners.

• Drive all marketing materials associated with product including: packaging, care/use inserts, product promotions, POP displays, signage.

Essential Functions

• Product: Provide overall product direction to support branded businesses ensuring alignment with brand and market opportunities. Develop annual product map. Drive internal product reviews quantifying and qualifying business opportunities. Ensure products align with brand strategy. Deliver integrated go-to-market strategy. Ensure products meet or exceed required gross margin requirements and align with tooling budgets. Develop seasonal color palettes and direct the design of product graphics.

• Merchandising: Provide and execute over-arching merchandising direction and messaging. Annually merchandise product line. Partner with sales to ensure profitable and timely exit strategy for discontinued items and determine appropriate launch schedules for new product introductions. Recommend and drive all point-of-purchase displays and signage.

• Marketing: Working with marketing manager, develop meaningful packaging promotions. Drive all packaging associated with new products. Responsible for recommending consumer research needs and integrating research findings into new product development opportunities.

• Presentations: Develop product sell sheets and additional materials to support sales presentations to key clients. Attend and present new products at key client appointments.

• Budgeting: Responsible for developing and adhering to departmental budget.

• Consumer Research: Develop clear understanding of target consumer, their needs, lifestyle trends and activities. Recommend research needed to help clarify and mitigate risk. Engage with the consumer to gain insights into new product development.

Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions

Sitting/Standing/Walking: Approximately 95% of time is spent working at a desk. Balance of time (approximately 5%) is spent moving around work areas.

Speaking/Hearing: Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, customers and outside agencies, by telephone and in person.

Vision: Ability to effectively use a computer screen and interpret printed materials, memos and other appropriate paperwork.

Lifting/Carrying: Ability to transport files and supplies.

Stooping/Kneeling: Ability to access files and supplies.

Reaching/Handling: Ability to input information into computer systems and retrieve and work with appropriate paperwork, equipment and supplies.

Proficiencies

• Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and project a professional image when giving and taking information in writing, in person and over the phone.

• Solid word processing and computer database skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Education and Experience

• 4 year degree with 5-7 years of experience in consumer goods product management in high volume products.

• 2-3 international trips per year with intermittent client calls

• Candidates should demonstrate the following skills:

o Experience in analyzing market trends and consumer behavior.


Prior experience working directly with channel marketing, sales, and customers to develop new product launch campaigns

o Demonstrates the ability to be innovative

o Exceptional communication skills

o Has a proven track record of effectively communicating with business teams to ensure that they are properly apprised of issues

o Possesses a passion for product
