Kavu, the Seattle, WA-based apparel brand, is celebrating its 30th anniversary as an independent, privately-owned business this year with the launch of a new footwear line.

“In the same way that other outdoor industry icons have designed technical climbing gear or backcountry ski gear to support their passions, Kavu founder Barry Barr has poured himself into creating lighthearted, bright-colored apparel that represents the Kavu way of life,” said the company.

Kavu has jumped into the footwear space with a limited launch of its women’s Rope Sandal inspired by the brand’s Rope Bags.

“It’s going to be a great, carefree sandal for all the Kavu days ahead,” said Barr. “Fun, free, unlimited. The sole design is really cool. It has Kavu sayings on it, like 8760, which is the number of hours in a year. Make them all count.”

Rope Sandals will be available in two styles, Alderbrooke and Horizon, in three colors each, featuring custom Kavu rope cording and a supportive three-layer footbed.
