Baffin, the Canadian-based designer and manufacturer of cold-weather performance boots since 1979, dropped its Downtown collection of urban winter boots available to Canadian and U.S. consumers.

Inspired by people who brave winter’s cold in cities and urban locales, the Downtown Collection offers “proven technology, comfort and warmth” in two men’s styles and three women’s styles.

The collection is a fashion-forward but function-first range that combines Baffin’s proprietary technology. A “true performance winter boot disguised as a shoe,” the collection provides the same “confidence in cold-climate protection as Baffin’s substantial winter boots.”

The two men’s styles in the collection include the Tavern and Distillery  For women, the styles include the Liberty, Yorkville, and High Park. All are available in brown and black leather with uppers made from outback leather and wool lining. An ultralite high-rebound midsole and Polar Rubber outsole provides comfort and slip-resistance for cold and slick conditions. 

The collection features Baffin’s Fixed-Fit multi-layer inner boot system, with proprietary technology including:

  • Thermaplush soft, next-to-foot wicking layer for warmth;
  • Form-fitting B-Tek Foam lining for comfort;
  • B-Tek Heat lightweight 4-channel, hollow-fiber insulation for high-loft breathability in a broad range of temperatures; and 
  • Fixed frost plate to return heat while reflecting the cold for temperature regulation.

The Downtown Collection is Northern Rated in Baffin’s Real-World Testing (RWT), which recommends cold-comfort levels associated with Baffin footwear. Northern Rated products have been proven from rivers and glaciers across the North. With B-Tek Dry Waterproof Breathable technology, the collection will protect from the elements while providing lightweight comfort for active lifestyles.
