Fresno, CA, December 10, 2019 – American Pistachio Growers (APG), the non-profit trade association representing more than 850 members in California, Arizona and New Mexico, has named Backbone Media its public relations agency for the active lifestyle segment. Backbone Media will also serve as media buying agency for the domestic market.
Based in Fresno, Calif., APG works to advance the American pistachio industry through research, promotion, advocacy, and programs that directly benefit trade members and ensure the economic viability of American-grown pistachios across the globe. Known largely for their health and nutritional benefits, pistachios provide the perfect snack for active lifestyles. The powerful combination of essential nutrients and six grams of complete protein per serving makes for quicker muscle and stress recovery post-exercise.
“Backbone understands the active lifestyle consumer, which makes them a natural partner to share the benefits of pistachios and the stories of our member growers,” said Judy Hirigoyen, vice president, global marketing for APG.
Pistachios have emerged as an economic force in American agriculture. In 2018, more than 750 million pounds of pistachios were harvested. California is home to 99% of the country’s pistachio production, while the remaining production comes from Arizona and New Mexico.
“As an agency of outdoor enthusiasts, we’re aware of the many health and nutrition benefits of pistachios,” said Ian Anderson, partner and PR director at Backbone Media. “We’re excited to introduce pistachios as the go-to snack for propelling active lifestyles and look forward to a bright future together with APG.”
APG activates a brand ambassador program including notable personalities such as Miss California, Jesse Lingard, the British soccer star, Jeremy Jones, a professional snowboarder and pro football nutrition experts, amongst a host of other professionals and experts.
