Pony International, LLC, announced that they have signed the legendary Harlem Globetrotters to an endorsement deal in which the entire team, staff, and tour will be outfitted by Pony footwear and apparel. The two entities will partner up to create a unique line of performance and lifestyle product to hit retail in the Spring/Summer of 2007.

“We wanted to partner with a brand that says both heritage and authenticity, while being stylish and forward-thinking at the same time,” says Killick Datta, CEO of GBMI, the majority owner of Pony International. “The Harlem Globetrotters are a world-renowned team with incredible brand recognition, and together we have a natural synergy that will help us market and sell Globetrotters and PONY product worldwide.”

“Over the past 80 years, the Globetrotters’ have strived to provide a positive influence for sports” says Mannie Jackson, CEO & chairman of the Harlem Globetrotters. “Pony has had a similar influence in the styles and fashions of children and young adults, both in and out of sports. It’s a natural fit between the two companies. We look forward to changing the face and look of sports around the world.”

The agreement will go into effect in the coming months as the Globetrotters begin their European and World Tour that is scheduled for the first half of 2006.
