Petzl USA received the 2007 HERA Power of One Award during the recent
HERA Climb4Life in Salt Lake City. The award is given annually to an
organization in recognition of its support of the nonprofit. The HERA
Foundation's founder, Sean Patrick, presented the award, which was
accepted by Petzl's director of marketing, John Evans. Earlier this
year Evans launched the Petzl HERAbiner program to increase awareness
of the Climb4Life rock-climbing event series that raises money for
ovarian cancer research.
Each
manual, screw-lock, lightweight carabiner is etched in white with “HERA
Climb4Life.” PETZL donates $1.00 from the sale of each carabiner to the
HERA Foundation.
“We're so proud to have been given this
tremendous honor. The work that The HERA Foundation does is truly
incredible. It¹s great to be part of it,” says John Evans. “The
HERAbiner is a vehicle to raise funds and awareness, but it also builds
community; think of it like a Lance Armstrong Live Strong bracelet that
is rated to 5000 pounds.”
Past winners of the Power of One Award include:
- 2006 Climbing Magazine, Carbondale, Colo.
- 2005 Forte Creative Media, Las Vegas, Nev.
- 2004 Black Diamond Climbing Equipment, Salt Lake City, Utah
The
sixth annual HERA Ovarian Cancer Climb4Life, Salt Lake City, raised
over $100,000 for ovarian cancer research and education programs.
