Performance Bicycle has partnered with the Yellow Ribbon Fund (YRF) to sponsor US Army Stg. Blake Johnson when he represents Team USA at the Invictus Games in May 2016.
 
Sgt. Johnson is an Army Veteran and athlete for the Yellow Ribbon Fund's TUF (Taking Up Fitness) Team.  This team of wounded veterans promote the power of fitness as a tool for recovery from injury and Post Traumatic Stress. After being severely injured in a motor vehicle accident, Sgt. Johnson used physical therapy and fitness to get him back to competitive shape.  Despite permanent damage to both legs, he competed medaled four times over in the 2015 Warrior Games.  It was after this performance he was invited to compete at the Invictus Games, representing the U.S.A.  as wounded servicemen and women from all over the world in an Olympic style event.
 
“When we heard that Blake was invited to represent Team USA this year in cycling, we knew right away that we wanted to help” said Performance Bicycle Community Manager Chris London. “The Yellow Ribbon Fund is a wonderful organization and Blake's an inspiration to us all.”
 
The Yellow Ribbon Fund is a nonprofit founded in 2005 to help returning American service men and women injured during active service, who are recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Bethesda Naval Hospital.
 
Johnson and Performance Bicycle are hosting a bike ride on October 17 at the Performance Bicycle store in Columbia, MD (6455 Dobbins Rd. in the Dobbin Shopping Center) and will have refreshments and free bike inspections after the ride.
