Pearl Izumi broke ground last Wednesday at the site of the company’s future world headquarters in Louisville, CO.

Following a four year stint at the Colorado Technology Center, Pearl Izumi is transitioning into a 55,000-square-foot, energy efficient building.  The new facility will accommodate the company’s 160 employees and offer accessibility via the extensive networks of bike trails that run through Boulder County.

“In developing plans for the the new headquarters we wanted something that would reflect and support the active culture Pearl Izumi promotes,” said Pearl Izumi Global Marketing Director Geoff Shaffer. “Louisville provides the perfect balance of functional space and outdoor access for our employees; we couldn’t be happier to stay in this great town which has already offered us so much.”

The company opened its first U.S. location in Boulder in 1981, later moving to Broomfield in 1996 and finally settling into Louisville in 2008.  Over the past four years Pearl Izumi’s popularity in the outdoor apparel world has continually expanded causing Louisville city leaders to take note and offer the company a business assistance package that would allow the run, ride and tri powerhouse to keep its feet planted firmly in Louisville.

Doors to the new facility are expected to open at the end of 2014.
