Paul Fireman, the former CEO at Reebok International, will reassume ownership of Mashpee's Willowbend Country Club on Cape Cod, effective Jan. 1. The transaction was approved following a landslide vote by club members.
“This ensures that the club can continue to operate as one of the region's top private clubs for years to come without the managerial or financial burden falling to the members. Paul's leadership will ensure financial stability and vitality for Willowbend well into the future.”
Fireman originally purchased the private club in 1992 and served as sole owner from 1992 to 2007. Fireman also owns New Jersey's $130 million Liberty National Golf Club.
Fireman, who sold Reebok
International Ltd. to Adidas AG for $3.8 billion in 2006, opened the
Liberty National club in Jersey City, New Jersey, in 2005.
