Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. has hired Thomas Kennedy to be division president of its PacSun unit, effective May 10, 2004. Kennedy will be responsible for all merchandising, design and marketing of the PacSun division. Four vice presidents/general merchandise managers of PacSun merchandising and the director of marketing will report to Kennedy.

“We are truly excited and pleased to announce that Tom Kennedy will be joining us as division president of PacSun,” stated Tim Harmon, the company's president and chief merchandising officer. “Tom's retail experience and sourcing background are a great fit for PacSun. We believe the addition of Tom further strengthens our merchandising team and supports the company's growth plans,” concluded Harmon.

Kennedy comes to PacSun with 19 years of retail and apparel experience. From May 2001 to April 2004, Kennedy worked for Nike Inc. serving as VP of U.S. apparel and most recently as VP of global lifestyle apparel. Prior to that, he worked at The Gap Inc. from March 1993 to May 2001 in roles of increased responsibility at both Gap and Old Navy with positions of buyer, merchandise manager, divisional merchandise manager and vice president. He served as VP, men's apparel at Gap and as VP, men's apparel at Old Navy which was his last position at The Gap Inc.

Kennedy will report to Tim Harmon, the company's president and chief merchandising officer.
