Outdoor World Sporting Goods is conducting liquidation sales at its last store in Capitola, CA. Its store in Santa Cruz, CA recently closed and a third location in Seaside, CA never re-opened after the pandemic emerged.

According to its website, Outdoor World “has been a family-owned and operated camping, fishing, hunting, and sporting goods retail business for over forty years in the Monterey Bay area of California.”

According to Good Times Santa Cruz, the retailer’s president Chris Thomas attributed the closings to the impact of COVID-19 restrictions, recent struggles securing merchandise amid global supply chain challenges and challenges doing business in California. He also said he had been nearing retirement. Thomas told the paper, “It’s been great for the family, and great to offer Santa Cruz the recreational activities we offer. but with all things considered it’s just become time.”
