“Through this series of webinars, we want to expand our role as a resource for the outdoor industry,” said Kenji Haroutunian, show director for Outdoor Retailer. “We will host sessions that cover a wide range of topics covering design advances, industry trends and business issues that continue to pose challenges for us everyday. Connecting experts with each segment of our community will foster discussion and, hopefully, ideas and solutions that will help the industry grow.”

The first webinar aims to inform participants about some of cotton's pro-environmental practices and cotton’s viability as a green, textile fiber option. Webcast participants will explore common misconceptions of modern day cotton production and discuss how to make better informed sourcing decisions. The webcast will also revisit the organic versus conventional debate as it pertains to production practices.

“Sustainability continues to play an important role in our industry, especially as consumers are thinking more about the environmental impact of their purchase,” said Haroutunian. “Cotton, in particular, has often been viewed as a challenge to sustainability; however, there are new environmental-friendly production methods being used by many cotton growers and manufacturers that all retailers should be aware of when making their decisions. This session provides an open forum for discussing these important issues.”
